Praying or preying?

A friend very recently concluded 3 different pilgrimages virtually on a trot. Around the same time he was also walking around excitedly about the prospects of year 2012. I was curious and asked him 'how come' about his trips, half-expecting to hear him say, ' Didn't want to keep it pending,  you know 2012 is approaching'. And he said, 'well, I am hoping that at least now better times will come!'

Some people think God is there to cater to each and every one of their demands. Is it born out of accepting him as the Ultimate Provider? Tena vina trunamapi na chalati. It is nice to take him as your buddy and share everything including your woes, right? Or does it reflect an ignorance of his working - because, if he is providing everything, doesn't your demand interfere with his grand plan?

So you don't want to pray? You want to hold your head high before him and tell him to give you whatever he pleases? That is the typical egotistical behavior I can expect of you.... This is the refrain I have heard!

If he is everywhere, he is with you too. If he knows everything, he knows what's happening with you too. Then, is it wrong to remember him whenever you feel like and only ask him for the balance of mind to flow with whatever he has planned for you? I don't know.
